1Password pricing: what you’ll pay and when to upgrade

What you’ll pay: There is no free plan. After a 14-day trial, one person pays $35.88 for the first year at 1Password’s advertised offer, then $47.88 a year at the listed regular annual rate. Families, for up to five people, costs $53.88 in the first year, then $71.88. Paying month to month costs more: $4.99 or $7.99 a month.

Free plan

None. Individual and Families each start with a 14-day free trial, then become a paid subscription.

Personal and family

Individual: $2.99 a month billed annually in the first year, then $3.99. Families: $4.49, then $5.99, for up to 5 members. The lower price is for new customers buying directly at 1Password.com, for the first year with annual billing.

Business entry tier

Teams Starter Pack: $24.95 a month billed annually ($299.40 a year) for up to 10 members. You can add up to 10 more seats at $4.99 a seat per month, for 20 members in total.

WHEN TO PAY MORE

What triggers an upgrade

  • A second person needs their own login. Families covers up to 5 members. At the regular annual rates, two Individual plans ($95.76 a year) cost more than one Families plan ($71.88).
  • Your household has more than five people. The plan comparison lists 5 seats in the Families base plan, so check how extra members would be priced before you commit.
  • The logins belong to a business. Teams Starter Pack covers up to 10 members, or 20 with added seats. Beyond that, Business is priced per user.
  • You need single sign-on with Okta, Entra ID, OneLogin, or Duo. 1Password lists that on Business, not on Teams Starter Pack.

BEFORE YOU PAY

What to check at checkout

  • Which price you are being charged: the first-year offer or the regular rate. 1Password limits the offer to new customers subscribing directly through 1Password.com, for the first year with annual billing.
  • Where you buy. 1Password says its promotions are not available through Google Play, the Apple App Store, or other third-party app stores.
  • The second-year charge. At the listed regular rate it is $12 more for Individual and $18 more for Families than the first-year offer. Set a reminder before the renewal date.
  • The currency and any tax added to the checkout total.

Before you pay

Check the final checkout total; tax and visitor-specific offers can change it. Try autofill and confirm the recovery options before moving your vault.
