Which cloud storage plan fits your space and your family?

Enter your storage, household size, and billing choice to compare iCloud+, Google One, Microsoft 365, and Dropbox. Prices are in US dollars; confirm your local price before paying.

How much, for whom, and how you pay

1 TB = 1,000 GB. If your phone or computer reports GiB, convert GiB to GB first. Not sure of the total? Check what you already store.

Count everyone, including you.

How you want to pay

iCloud+ is billed monthly only; we say so in its result.

1.5 TB for 3 people, billed yearly where offered. 4 of 4 providers have a plan in our data that holds it and includes everyone. Prices in US dollars, before tax.

What you get

For each provider, the smallest plan in our checked data that holds your total and includes everyone, with the price and the next size up.

What is left out

Taxes, promotions, local currencies, add-on storage, and prices we could not read in US dollars. Plans are compared on storage, not on the apps and AI features bundled with them.

Before you choose

Check your current usage, read the family-sharing limits, then confirm the price in your country on the provider’s page.

HOW THE RESULT IS WORKED OUT

Match by size, then by people, then by price

  1. 01

Convert to GB. Your entry is converted to decimal gigabytes, where 1 TB = 1,000 GB. Microsoft and Dropbox describe their plan sizes this way, and we treat every plan size the same.

  2. 02

Work out each plan’s space for your group. On a shared plan, everyone draws from one allowance. Microsoft 365 Family is different: each person gets their own 1 TB, so the usable total is 1 TB times the number of people it includes, up to six.

  3. 03

Pick the smallest plan that holds it and includes everyone. Plans are ordered by space for your group, then by price. If no plan includes everyone, you see the smallest plan that holds your total and a note that it does not cover the whole group.

  4. 04

Price it the way you pay. For yearly billing we use the published yearly price and divide by 12 for a monthly figure. If a plan has no yearly price, we show the monthly price and multiply by 12, and say so. We never assume a yearly discount.

  5. 05

Show the next tier up. This is the next plan from the same provider with more space for your group, so you can see the cost of growing.

WORKED EXAMPLE

The starting inputs, step by step

These are the values the calculator opens with: 1.5 TB shared by 3 people, paid yearly where possible. They are example inputs, not a typical household.

Space needed
1.5 TB = 1,500 GB.
iCloud+
200 GB is too small. The 2 TB plan holds 1,500 GB and can be shared with up to five other family members. Apple bills iCloud+ monthly, so the year costs 12 × $9.99 = $119.88.
Google One
Google AI Plus (400 GB) is too small. Google AI Pro (5 TB) holds it: $199.99 a year, about $16.67 a month.
Microsoft 365
Personal is 1 TB for one person. Family gives each of the 3 people 1 TB, 3 TB in total: $129.99 a year, about $10.83 a month. That works only if no one person needs more than 1 TB.
Dropbox
Family holds 2 TB shared by up to six people, so it fits. Dropbox’s pricing page showed us euro prices, so the result says “Check price”.

The plans and prices behind the result

US-dollar prices before tax, as shown on each provider’s own page on September 22, 2026. “Check” means the page showed us a different currency. Google’s general plans page and Dropbox’s pricing page opened in local currencies for us, so we used only pages that displayed US dollars.

Google’s US overview page lists Basic (100 GB) at $1.99 and Standard (200 GB) at $2.99 a month, without yearly prices. Its AI plans page lists Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month without a yearly price, and Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. Microsoft lists the same storage for Microsoft 365 Premium as for Family, so Premium is not in the calculator.

What this calculator cannot tell you

Prices vary by country. Everything here is in US dollars. Apple publishes different iCloud+ prices by country, and Google and Dropbox showed us prices in other currencies. Confirm the price in your own country and currency on the provider’s page before you pay. Apple notes that some US states add tax to the monthly payment.

Some prices are missing. We could not read US-dollar prices for Dropbox Plus or Family, and Dropbox’s pricing page did not show us the Family plan at all; its help centre describes it. Microsoft lets the account holder add OneDrive storage up to 10 TB; add-on storage is not modelled.

Storage is only part of each plan. Google’s plans bundle AI features, and Microsoft 365 includes Office apps. We compare storage and price only, and do not rank the providers.

Cloud storage is not the same as a backup. Sync keeps the same files in several places, which is not the same as keeping a separate copy. If you want a separate copy of a whole computer, dedicated backup is a different product. For example, Backblaze lists Personal Backup at $9 a month or $99 a year, with unlimited data backup; check how many computers each subscription covers before you buy.

Your numbers stay in this browser. The amount, unit, household size, and billing choice are kept here so our cloud-storage comparisons and the family-sharing guide can show the plan that fits them. They are never sent anywhere or added to a web address; Reset removes them.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Check how family sharing works before you pay for a family plan.

Each provider draws the line between shared space and private files differently. The family sharing comparison lists who can join, whether space is pooled, and what members can see. Not sure how much you store? Start with how much cloud storage you need.
